d'Or department and it is the historical capital of the Burgundy region.

headquarters of the University of Bourgogne, which was founded in the
18th century. Among the cities monuments and landmarks worth to mention
is The Palace of Justice that use to be the seat of the court of
burgundy during the 15-16 century. The church of Notre-Dame and the
Gothic Cathedral of Saint Benigne, the Gothic church of Saint-Michel and
the Monastery of Champmol. Dijon with its rich historical past is today
a green city with a tradition of intense cultural life, a culinary,
business and shopping centre.
