The river Ouche flows through the city, where the Canal de Bourgogne connects the city with the Saone.

The economy of Dison is highly developed, main sectors are the metal industry, chemicals, pharmaceutical industry and food processing .The city is one of the most important French rail junctions to the east. In Dijon are the headquarters of the University of Bourgogne, which was founded in the 18th century. Among the cities monuments and landmarks worth to mention is The Palace of Justice that use to be the seat of the court of burgundy during the 15-16 century. The church of Notre-Dame and the Gothic Cathedral of Saint Benigne, the Gothic church of Saint-Michel and the Monastery of Champmol. Dijon with its rich historical past is today a green city with a tradition of intense cultural life, a culinary, business and shopping centre.
